Scaffolding for Student Success

Just as scaffolding provides support for a structure, teachers provide support for students while they are learning. Once students are secure with a skill, teachers can remove the scaffolding and celebrate increased student confidence and learning.

This section of the website provides an array of assessment for learning tools and templates that teachers can adapt for a range of classroom contexts. Designed for student self-reflection, peer coaching and teacher feedback, these tools highlight the power of specific, descriptive feedback to scaffold stduents and move learning forward.

Exemplars and video clips of the tools at work in the classroom provide insight for teachers and students. Professional learning modules are available for individual and collaborative team book study using the AAC publication Scaffolding for Student Success.
